No 18 Hotel

The location is fantastic, and the food at the in-house Raintree Restaurant & Bar was good with plenty of variety, though it closes at 10.30 pm. Qissa Café serves continental food under separate management. The night sports bar on the third floor stays open late for drinks and dinner, but it was noisy and crowded with young people, and service there was poor too. Our three-day booking got off to a bad start with trouble confirming it at reception and a long wait to get rooms. The rooms were spacious but poorly maintained and dimly lit. Staff seemed stressed and to be working overtime. They said there was a staff shortage and the hotel would soon close for three months of renovation. The swimming pool is very small. I hope they renovate soon and hire enough staff. Other reviews suggest the work has been overdue for 2-3 years.

No.18 Hotel was a very good place to stay, with clean, comfortable rooms and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and getting to the main attractions was easy since it’s so close to Fort Kochi. I’d recommend it for the convenient location.

The café on the ground floor was good, and although staff seemed stressed and were few, they did try to help. Still, the restaurant downstairs was practically nonfunctional, and the rooftop bar was chaotic with terrible food service. Most rooms were empty even though it was holiday season. It could improve, all the best. It’s an old property that needs better management. The rooms are large but not well maintained. In room 211, which I was moved to from 202 because of other issues, water collected in a big puddle in the bathroom and didn’t drain because of the bad flooring, so it was a real fall risk. The ACs in both rooms had problems and would be difficult in summer. The intercom didn’t work, and none of the AC or TV remotes worked because the batteries needed regular replacement.

I left extremely disappointed with No.18 Hotel, Kochi. The staff treated us terribly, almost like animals, and some acted aggressively enough to make the place feel unsafe. There was no hospitality, the ambience was poor, and the whole stay was uncomfortable and stressful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, pleasant place to stay.
