For anyone who expects more than a young backpacker might, this place was a bad fit. The AC room smelled strongly of mold, and I had a headache while we were there. Worms kept coming out of the AC, so I had to clear them away each time we got back. One large one was on the bathroom wall, which was frightening and disgusting for my partner. Hot water was unreliable, and even when it worked it was only warm enough to shower, not really enjoy. We also heard plenty from the big road outside because the sound insulation was poor. The included breakfast felt careless and gave us indigestion. The place is run by a dour man in his forties and his mother; he also made racially tinged remarks that put me off. This felt like a business, not a homestay. Even a smile seemed to cost 100 rupees. On foot, it was about 20 minutes to restaurants, markets, and tourist sights. I spent two weeks looking around Kochi, and budget-conscious travelers can get better value elsewhere. The ratings have been manipulated, in my view. If you're looking for a cheap stay, take your woman here. Otherwise, try Bishop Kureethara Road, where there are a few good-value places. It's fine if you're young and carefree, but terrible if you want more. After the owner's response, there's more I could say about Mister Antonio's behavior, but he has trouble telling the truth. Put plainly, he's lying. Also, the lady doth protest too much. Still, go see the place yourself if you like. I hope the worm and mold issues have been fixed in the months since.
