Hotel Maratha Regency

The restaurant food was very tasty, and the complimentary breakfast was good, with a wide choice: misal, upma, dosa, boiled eggs, omelette, bread and butter, fruits, and tea or coffee. Staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is set just inside the main road, so it's quiet and away from pollution. The only policy issue I noticed was that children over five are charged the full extra adult rate, whether or not you take an extra bed.

Masala Pot is the main draw for me. Its interiors are lovely, with both indoor seating and an outside deck area beautifully designed around an artificial pond. The restaurant team were warm and cooperative, and the food was tasty and filling. It's also close to Kolhapur Railway station, an easy walk, with good food joints and the market nearby within walking distance. We were in Kokhapur for Mahalakshmi Darshan and some work. It happened to be 30th Dec, near the end of the year, when many people had come to pray to Devi for their well-being on the first day of New Year 2026, so Kolhapur was packed. The hotel was nearly full, but we had pre-booked and got a room. It was just fine and manageable in winter, though it didn't have AC. The bed, washroom, and everything else were cosy, comfortable, and neat. We weren't planning to watch TV anyway, but the small old set didn't suit the room's ambience. I definitely recommend staying here and visiting the restaurant.

For a quick stopover, Hotel Maratha Regency is a practical choice. There’s enough parking for a road trip, and the rooms are reasonably spacious and comfortable. The food is just average, fine for a quick meal. Some patchy paint and worn interiors could use maintenance, though it works if you’re after basic convenience rather than luxury.

The staff were courteous throughout, from the watchman and reception to the restaurant team. They even arranged a rickshaw for our temple visit and helped find urgent medicine for an elderly person. Check-in is available 24 hours, and checkout billing was quick and uncomplicated. The restaurant and included breakfast were good, and they followed our food instructions clearly. A few things need attention: the lift feels like it belongs in the 90s and could be changed for safety. Though the rooms were clean, they’re showing their age, especially the bathrooms. Two one-litre water bottles in the room would be better. The windows also need tinting since the nearby office building can see in, leaving the curtains closed and blocking natural light. Still, we had a great experience.
