The view from our superior cottage was superb, and the food was really good. The place is right by Khairabera dam, so it feels remote and wonderfully quiet. We stayed for two days and were pretty satisfied overall. There are a couple of downsides. The property needs serious renovation, with deep cracks in the walls and plaster coming off. There’s no food room service, which was okay, though I would’ve appreciated it. They offer speedboat rides on the water. The hotel says children can’t ride because of a forest department rule, but I saw a child go with his family. Day visitors also come for meals and spend time around the grounds, sometimes close to the cottages, which bothered us a bit.

The room had such lovely views that even relaxing indoors felt special. We came to Eco Adventure Resort, Khairabera hoping for a quiet weekend, and Purulia felt like a little paradise. The setting was exactly the reset we needed, with hills on one side and the lake on the other. Sunsets over the water were amazing, and the infinity pool and jacuzzi look out toward the hills. The grounds had a peaceful feel, with emus strolling around as a fun surprise. Freshly made organic food, warm hospitality, and attentive staff made the stay even better. It’s worth considering for a family trip or a corporate outing.

We went to Eco Adventure Resort, Khairabera (Purulia) for a quiet weekend, and it really was peaceful and worth the trip. The warm, friendly staff and homely-tasting fresh food were great, and spotting emus around the property was a fun surprise. The highlights were the misty mornings, kayaking and archery, plus the lake sunsets. We also enjoyed the campfire and evening barbecue, and the infinity pool has a lovely hill view. Don’t miss the jacuzzi in the pool.

The rooms were comfortable and the food was good, but the service at Khairbera Eco Stay made the experience very frustrating. We came with 8 adults and 3 toddlers aged 1.5-3. On the first day, breakfast refills took ages, and there wasn’t enough food for all 11 of us. When refills finally arrived, guests had to go to the counter to get them. The rules around evening snacks and drinks were rigid. At about 10°C, we were told to sit outside in the cold or pay an extra ₹1000 for a bonfire. There was no indoor place offered for drinks, and food left out in regular dishes got cold right away. Food wasn’t allowed in the tents, which was fair enough, but we could only eat snacks in the dining room without drinks, then had to go outside for drinks. Drinks were explicitly banned in the dining area, as if having alcohol were illegal. That felt absurd and unprofessional for a hospitality property. When we raised it with the manager, Mr. Shubha, he bluntly told us to check the website for the rules. There was no effort to accommodate us or suggest another indoor spot for drinks and snacks, which didn’t seem like too much to ask. In the end, the wait staff partly saved the situation by bringing food in casseroles to keep it warm. Nice location and decent food, but poor planning, inflexible rules, and an attitude that didn’t put guests first. I wouldn’t recommend it unless service improves significantly.

We spent three days in Ajodhya Hills, Purulia with friends, riding two scooters and exploring the area. Mayur Pahar, Upper Dam, and Bamni Falls were all part of the trip, but we enjoyed the Chemataburu trek most. It was peaceful and scenic, a refreshing short nature break from the noise of the city.
