Fabhotel Grand Hazra Inn

The location was decent, and after an initially slow response, the staff were polite. I also appreciated that they promptly called me when I accidentally left a belonging in the room. Still, the poor upkeep and lack of basic amenities made the stay disappointing. The bedding and cupboards had a lingering smell of damp sweat. The floor had been mopped but was unpleasantly sticky, and a single dirty pair of slippers sat by the bathroom. There was no table, just two chairs and a small movable box cabinet that we had to use to spread out our things. A thick blanket was hiding two large rips, around 7-8 inches, in the bedsheet. Reception was slow when I requested a replacement, and the second sheet they eventually sent still had visible holes, though it was slightly better. Staff said they’d run out of new stock.

The bathroom was comparatively clean, but everything else made for a bad stay. The room, plates, and bedspread were dirty, and the lock was broken.

The room was basic but clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was better than I expected. Staff were welcoming. I arrived on a bank holiday, and they gave me a leaflet showing what was open. I could also leave my luggage after checkout, and the Wi-Fi was great. The location is excellent, central and well connected by tram and metro. A decent choice for a short city break.

The room was sunlit all day, which was a nice point. Everything else was frustrating, especially since I’d been assured by fabhotel contact ms.pooja that the deluxe room package included breakfast and certain amenities. There was no breakfast, and the toilet seat was loose and unhinged. The bed linen was dirty and had to be replaced after I asked; some pieces also had cigarette burn holes. No toiletries were provided except a tiny one rupee soap, and there was no bottled water, only filter water. I was told the package would include a table and chairs, but there wasn’t even a table, just a couple of chairs. It was hard to spread our belongings, so we had to put things on the floor or bed. Not nice to be told one thing, then offered the promised package only for an extra payment.
