Hotel Niharika

For the three days I stayed, the team was wonderful. Everyone I dealt with was warm, polite, and ready to help, whether I needed a hair dryer, a weighing machine, or something else. The breakfast spread was excellent too. The checkout conversation, though, spoiled the experience for me. I asked about staying later and was told a half-day extension would cost ₹2,000 + taxes, while my room rate was ₹3,700 + taxes, making half of that ₹1,850 + taxes. Beyond the price, the explanations didn't add up. First I was told the room would be “useless” after 4 PM because housekeeping leaves, then I was told I had to leave by 4 PM because another guest was coming later. When I asked politely whether there was any flexibility or discount, the manager was rude and dismissive. He kept bringing up his 13 years at the hotel as though that excused the attitude. Seniority should show in professionalism. @Mr. Alok Nath Saha, I think Manager Soumya Subhra Bhattacharya's manner could seriously hurt the hotel's otherwise excellent reputation. The rest of the staff were courteous and welcoming, so this was one isolated interaction, but it left a big mark. I'm giving two stars only because of his behavior. Without that, my stay would have earned five.

The location is very good, and I think this hotel works well for business travelers. The rooms aren't cramped, though there isn't much shelf space for a family staying more than a day. Most rooms have two single beds instead of a double. Each room's 10 litre hot water geyser isn't enough for a shower. South Indian breakfast dishes weren't satisfactory, while the other food was quite good. The staff are professional, but they never smile.

The area is really congested, but the hotel is close to Rabindra Sadan Metro and Sealdha Railway station. It's handy if you're going to Victoria memorial or the India museum, and getting there shouldn't cost much.

The location made it convenient to explore the area, which was a small plus. The room had noticeable problems, and the staff repeatedly fell short, even with basic requests like Wifi and hygienic towels. Not a good stay 😔.
