Newtown Galaxy by OYO Rooms

The room I was given felt like a store room, and it was dirty, unhygienic, and hadn’t been cleaned. I’d already paid Oyo 572 after using coupon codes, but when I arrived they said they couldn’t provide a room at that price and demanded more. I had no other option then, so I paid an extra 328. For that higher charge, I at least expected a decent room. Check carefully before booking.

I rarely post reviews, but I want people to know what happened. I booked through Oyo for 509rs, and the hotel asked me for 900rs instead. They also refused the reservation and said they didn’t care what Oyo had confirmed. The receptionist was very rude. I don’t understand how Oyo allows these hotels to keep operating, and I think it should cancel their Oyo licence. The other four-star reviews look fake to me.

The room shown in the app apparently doesn’t exist, and the staff were very rude. I’d booked through the Oyo app in advance, but this Oyo flagship hotel refused to check me in unless I paid another 500 rupees. I was with my wife, so I ended up paying. Oyo customer support didn’t help, saying they couldn’t do anything and that this problem happens across Kolkata. The service was terrible. I won’t use OYO again.

When I asked a basic question about the hotel’s amenities, the receptionist rolled her eyes and let out a loud sigh. The staff came across as unprofessional.
