OYO 1126 Hotel Bengal Inn

We had a prepaid booking for February 9 and 10, but when we arrived around 9 to 9:30 in the morning there was no room available. We were in a hurry, so we left for work and came back that evening. To our surprise, they had kept the worst room left for us. As the first visitors of the day, we should have had a proper room with the amenities they advertise. They'd seen us as a couple in the morning. We asked for a room with one double or king-size bed, which they had, but there was no geyser in the bathroom and no hot water. The person at reception was uncooperative and didn't know how to speak to a customer. Breakfast was meant to be served at 8:30 but arrived at 9. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm surprised OYO partners with such shabby places and expects people to stay there in the name of discounts. I wouldn't give it even one star, but the form wouldn't accept the review without one.

The room wasn't very spacious, but it was well kept, with clean sheets and good service. The location is well connected. There aren't many restaurants nearby, though food delivery apps help, and the hotel's own restaurant is pretty good.

Everything else was fine, and privacy was good, but the room smelled strongly of cigarettes when I arrived. Breakfast starts at 8:30, so if you've got an early morning commitment, you may miss it. I did.

The rooms are well kept, and the service and atmosphere are pretty good. Food choices are limited. It's in a busy part of Beleghata, near the former Alochaya cinema, and useful for travellers since there aren't equivalent options nearby.
