This has been one of my familiar places to stay in Kolkata for a long time. Chowdhury Guest House has big rooms and even bigger bathrooms, right in the heart of the city, with plenty of shops nearby in a busy area. Once inside, though, it’s quiet. I like the wooden staircase and larger rooms more than overly modern decor or tie suite executives to cater for. The front desk experience could be better, but at the price, it works well for both official and personal stays.

Great place in a really good location, with cheerful, smiling staff. I’m taking off one star because there’s no kitchen of their own. They use Maharaja restaurant kitchen, and food is served only at set times. Improve that and you’d be right up there with the expensive hotels. ☺

The room is large, with a high ceiling, so it doesn’t feel humid. The toilet and bathroom are well maintained, and it’s near victory place. There’s enough parking space.

The washroom and linens were in terrible condition. Even the so-called suite had a set-top box that didn't work, and the local DTH connection was poor. A worthless place.

The rooms are roomy, clean, and neat, and the location is right on the main road, behind Maharaja hotel and close to haldirams. It costs a little more, but I felt it was worth it.
