NEW TOWN in Kolkata is a beautiful, well-established area, and this hotel provides the facilities you’d expect from a good hotel. The customer service is good, and the staff are polite. You can have some nice moments staying here.

The lift never worked, and they said there was no electricity from the first day we checked in until checkout, for all three consecutive days. The service was very bad, and the food was so pathetic that after trying it once, we never ordered again. The rooms were too dirty, and the doors were badly jammed. Opening them takes powers like Daya from CID. I suggest you never book this hotel, it’ll be the biggest regret of your life.

The owner was polite and helpful, and the staff were good, though I barely needed anything from them. There was strong Wi-Fi, a kitchen space for cooking, and they seemed concerned about guest safety and security. On the downside, the AC remote, toilet exhaust, and TV didn’t work. It’s a 3 BHK flat converted into rooms.

The food was next level, just not in a good way. We came straight from the airport hungry and ordered butter chicken, jeera rice, and paratha. The chicken tasted only of tomato puree, the jeera rice was like jeera rice’s younger brother lost at the Khumbh mela, and the paratha was so skinny it seemed to be trying to gain weight. I’ll give it credit for trying. The bathroom door was completely jammed and had no inside handle, even though you had to pull it from inside. You had to smash it shut, then get someone outside to kick it open. Solo travellers should take their phone in, in case they get stuck. There was no stepbro or stepsis to help. The door smashing did at least burn calories. The lift never worked, so stairs were another workout. The hotel seems very conscious of customers’ health, between the stairs, the doors, and that paratha. It was a very amazing experience.
