The Door To Nirvana Hostel

I left with a happy heart and honestly didn’t want to go. Chirag was so friendly and welcoming, and the hostel had a wonderful vibe that made it feel like arriving as a guest and leaving as family. It’s in a peaceful spot with beautiful views from every corner. There’s a little stream just in front, reached by a short trek, which made the stay even more special.

The setting is really pretty, right on the SH, easy to reach, and connected by local transport. The cooking staff were warm and welcoming, and even made my dinner near closing time because I said I was hungry. That’s where the good parts stop if you’re not into 🚬/🍺/🌿. People drink and smoke all over the property, including the dorm balconies, except inside the dorms. The fresh air you’d hope for in such a peaceful place was replaced by a heavy cigarette and weed smell. I had to find another secluded spot to eat without it. I took the video included with this review in the morning so I wouldn’t record people without their consent. If the smell doesn’t bother you, you could visit, but for me it was a hard pass and I left after one day.

The food they serve is delicious, and I really enjoyed my time at Door to Nirvana. It’s quiet and peaceful, surrounded by tea plantations. Chirag was very friendly and helped me a lot with recommendations and other tips.

For three days at The Door to Nirvana, I slowed down and relaxed, and that’s when my India trip started to feel joyful and alive. I’d been a bit overwhelmed for about half a week after arriving, with a new country, so many impressions, and constant movement. This place gave me room to breathe, feel grounded, reconnect with myself, meet lovely people, and let India unfold at its own pace. It felt like more than a hostel to me. The name fits: it was my own door to nirvana and the perfect beginning to an unforgettable journey. Highly recommended if you want to arrive, not just travel.
