Palette Resort-Periyar

The lawn was nicely kept for kids, and parking was excellent. We came only to eat, and the water view was lovely, but the meal was a letdown. The biriyani took over an hour to arrive and was only average. It cost 180 Rs. per plate.

The hut on the lawn was a fun spot, and the catchment area beside the lawn was full of water. The property is well maintained, neat and spacious, with friendly staff and commendable service. It's very close to Bhoothankettu dam. Expect Kerala's hot, humid weather, since this isn't a hill station, and the campfire isn't much fun outside the very cold part of winter. There's a bar attached for people who drink, and the restaurant serves good quality food at comparatively low prices.

We came with family on 30 Dec 22, hoping for a nice get-together somewhere scenic. The setting and upkeep were good, but after parking, the way in went through a Bar. At reception, the staff's behavior shocked all of us. They pressured us to order chicken Biriyani. When we questioned that, we were left waiting more than 15 minutes, with the used plates and rubbish still on the table. Then the staff argued with us and said to leave if we didn't like their behavior. It's disheartening to see such a lovely scenic place let down by arrogant reception staff. Given the earlier comments, it seems management is either asleep or not capable of running the place. Unless management changes substantially, I'd advise people to stay away unless they want to test their patience. If management really wants to know more, I have a video and photos of the whole incident.

The location and resort are good, but the service is very poor. The people at reception seem to have no idea how to run a hotel. Locals also come to the bar and use the same parking area. I wouldn't recommend going with family if you're after a peaceful stay.
