The views and location were wonderful, and the staff were helpful and very friendly. There’s plenty within the resort, and the team seemed to listen to guests instead of just pushing them to spend more. We enjoyed the spa, and the room service was good, though a few requests got missed. The Indian food at the restaurant was excellent, but it could feel repetitive after a couple of days. We didn’t bring kids, but it looked child-friendly. A very positive stay, and we’ll definitely visit again.

The resort is quiet and very green, with a lovely setting for relaxing. It isn’t a place with much for children to do, but it suits yoga, meditation, and wellness. Mr Unni was a pleasant, accommodating yoga teacher. The sunrise sessions by the sea were especially good, with the sound of the waves, and the sound healing session was refreshing. They also had activities such as pottery. Service started slowly, possibly because the resort was full during the season, but it picked up later. The rooms are spacious, though housekeeping could be better: several items were missing at check-in, but were brought once we reported it. The location was the best we’d stayed in around Kovalam. The breakfast selection was average and below expectations. Restaurant staff were courteous and helpful, though the menu could be improved for the prices. Dinner through in-room dining was tasty, and they accommodated requests for dishes not on the menu. Mr Swamy, the restaurant in charge, was really helpful. I also had a great spa experience. Ms Sindhu gave me my massage, and Dr Lekshmy advised me on which therapy might suit my needs. Bring mosquito repellent. The resort can fumigate and will provide plug-in repellents if asked, and the rooms also have mosquito nets.

What made the stay at Niraamaya Retreats, Kovalam feel so special was the staff’s warmth. They treated us like family, and every part of the visit exceeded expectations. The resort is peaceful and feels close to nature, with beautiful sea views and a quiet, understated kind of luxury. The villas and calming atmosphere show care in the design. At Gouri Restaurant, meals were a highlight, with warm, personal service. Chef Umesh deserves a special mention: the dishes were beautifully presented, full of flavor, and suited to the resort’s luxury standards. Jeeten and the housekeeping team kept the room spotless and refreshed it with great attention. We were very comfortable throughout. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for luxury, quiet, and heartfelt hospitality. It’s an experience we’ll remember.

We spent four nights in the Rock Garden Room, which was huge, with two open sides and sit-out verandahs on both. The bathrooms are partly open, which might feel unsettling if you’re used to city life. There’s loads of room to walk, with plenty of stairs to climb, so it’s a great spot for anyone who enjoys fitness. You can even walk barefoot. The setting is beautiful, especially the sea views from the swing. The hotel has private access to two secluded beaches, with clear water and cliffs along the sides. The sunsets from the beach and cliffs are lovely and peaceful. The sea can be rougher than Goa or the main Kovallam beach, though, so stay no deeper than ankle-deep. The hotel has marked this warning at the entry and exit points. The food was good quality and the service was good, but the menu could use more variety, especially for vegetarian dishes. Don’t miss the evening tea and munchkins with the sea view. The staff were helpful, and housekeeping was very accommodating and on point. Resort Manager Mr Amey was always smiling. Definitely recommend.
