Sea Face Hotel

The rooms and facilities feel too old for a tariff of around 7,000 per night, which didn’t seem worth it to me. The interiors and furniture are dated, the room seemed somewhat untidy, and the towels were very old. The swimming pool hours were also odd and inconvenient. On the positive side, the staff were warm, humble, and genuinely helpful, and the restaurant has a beautiful view. Breakfast tasted good, though there wasn’t much choice. The property needs significant upgrades to justify its price.

We booked 3 standard double bedroom rooms, and the night was a disaster. When my family went in, the beds were dirty, the windows and woreboards were dusty, and there were spiders and insects. The refrigerator smelled foul and was disgusting. We spent that one night worrying what else might turn up, and the kids couldn’t sleep in the unclean beds. Breakfast was included, but it was kept in an unclean vessel with crow feather and poos. The table covers had been drained in rain and were laid over the dining table anyway. This was a disgusting, unsafe place for a family stay. I strongly recommend never staying at the sea face hotel, kovalam. It’s a BIG NO.

The hotel is only a few feet from the sea, and the place is beautiful. The room was luxurious, with an amazing sea view, a spacious restroom, and central A/C. The pool was offered after 9 in the night, and the food was good. They prefer bars that are not suitable for kids. Additional beds are available. I’d pre-book if you want a balcony view room because those are always full.

There are safety concerns for families: the room doors don’t have proper locks, and the hotel advertises an empty space as a “balcony” while charging very high prices. If you don’t have your own vehicle, they ask you to use the hotel’s transport at triple the normal cost. Outside cabs aren’t allowed, and when someone tries to come, staff threaten them and create trouble, which feels intimidating. The restaurant also won’t let hotel guests sit unless they order something. The rooms were extremely dirty, and the overall cleanliness was very poor. It was not at all like what’s shown online. Be very careful if you’re travelling with kids or elderly people. This overpriced, unsafe, stressful hotel isn’t one I’d recommend for a family stay, sea-facing stay, or peaceful vacation.
