The Ocean Park Beach Resort

For 5000 rupees a night, I got smelly tap water, stained towels, dusty furniture, a broken TV, and a small, awful breakfast served in the staff area, despite the hotel having a restaurant. The atmosphere made it seem like the staff didn’t care about comfort, cleanliness, or hospitality. This was the least friendly hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We chose a Deluxe room only because it was the sole hotel available on Booking.com in the area during a public holiday. We’d seen the rating and reviews but decided to chance it. I wish we hadn’t. This is the worst place in Kovalam.

I booked a stay for four people with breakfast included. When we arrived late at night, tired after a long drive, the front desk, Mr. Arun, wouldn’t honor the booking confirmation, saying the details hadn’t come through from the booking platform. Instead of sorting it out with the agent, they made me spend over an hour on customer support at 10 PM. The platform offered to pay the hotel directly, but the hotel said they had “no way to accept payment” and insisted I pay again myself. The room wasn’t worth the stress or hassle. Unprofessional and unhelpful, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful stay where the booking voucher is respected. Update, Mar 7, 2026: Mr. Arun's response is misleading. I attached my confirmed voucher from vio.com, with “Breakfast included” highlighted. If The Ocean Park Beach Resort doesn’t work with vio.com agents, how could I book directly through its platform? That’s the first misrepresentation. The voucher also confirms breakfast for my Deluxe Double Room, so this wasn’t an “unverified screenshot.” Despite the evidence, he refused to act professionally and even declined direct payment from the platform. Future guests should verify the claims about the booking system independently. Better yet, avoid the hotel completely.

The rooms were clean and well kept, and the staff were very helpful. Arun runs yoga classes on the hotel roof in the morning. There are no elevators, so book somewhere else if you need one. We had a nice stay and would book again if we can.

The location was amazing, and the hotel itself was nice, but it wasn’t very well maintained. The staff seemed poorly trained in hospitality and barely smiled. I had to ask for water every day. The waves are loud enough that you’ll need earplugs.
