Cardamom County by Xandari

We spent three lovely nights at the Cardamon County. The bungalow was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities, and we enjoyed sitting on the veranda overlooking the pool and watching the wildlife. The pool was very nice, with bar service for a much appreciated cold beer. It’s a calm little oasis just off the road, surrounded by nature, with birds, squirrels, and monkeys around. We got a friendly welcome, and the location was handy for trips to the National Park. Because the hotel was short of LPG thanks to Trumps war, dinner was ordered from the menu instead of served as a buffet. That was a nice change, especially since the food was delicious.

The dance performance by Rosna was one of the evening’s highlights. It was beautiful, and her grace and artistry made it memorable. The staff were also excellent, warm, professional, and ready to help. It was reassuring to see that many have worked there for years and seem happy in their jobs, which comes through in how they treat guests. The resort’s greenery and natural charm make for a calm escape in the heart of Thekkady. I’ve had the dinner buffet on previous visits, when the quality and variety were impressive, but this time both seemed to have dropped drastically. I hope the earlier standard returns, since the buffet used to be a strong point. A one-day stay is enough to enjoy the property and Thekkady’s natural setting. Cardamom County remains serene and well managed, with lovely hospitality, and could easily get back to its earlier standard with some improvement to the buffet.

The welcome drink was amazing, and the staff were extraordinary. Receptionist Mr Kavusik was patient, well mannered, and took the time to explain everything we needed to know. With a great location, beautiful surroundings, good food, and such lovely hospitality, it’s one of the best places in Kumily for a stay with family or friends. We had a wonderful experience to cherish and are already waiting to come back. ❤️❤️🫰

We were nervous about taking our toddler on a first trip, but the staff made things easy. They arranged early check-in and late check-out, which helped a lot with our schedule. The kitchen and restaurant teams were especially accommodating with our requests. We noticed plenty of other toddlers staying there too. I can’t say whether the hotel officially calls itself child-friendly, but it certainly felt that way. We’ll recommend it.
