Silent Shores Resort & Spa

The room, in-room service, and food were good, and breakfast was satisfactory. Still, one issue overshadowed an otherwise decent stay at Silent Shores. We were two women staying overnight, and a friend who had come from Bangalore wanted to spend a few hours with us during the day. She wasn’t staying the night. The concierge said hotel policy meant she couldn’t come into our room, though we could spend time with her in the resort’s shared spaces. That seemed unusual to me, since at other hotels I’ve stayed in, daytime visitors could come in for a few hours. We explained that we wanted some privacy to freshen up and spend time together, and that she’d leave in the evening. At first, someone from management seemed to agree, but after discussing it internally, they said we’d have to pay ₹2,500 for her to enter. We asked them to reconsider and pointed out she wasn’t an overnight guest, but they wouldn’t. Concerned about our safety and comfort as women, we felt we had to pay. The charge felt unfair and unnecessary, especially without clear notice before booking. I recommend explaining this policy upfront and handling such situations with more flexibility and sensitivity.

The Italian restaurant on the property was good, and we all enjoyed it. Our tidy, nice room faced the clean pool, where we had a good time. There are indoor games and a play area for children too. The property is beautiful and well maintained, and made for a pleasant weekend break. Service didn’t feel up to the price, though. Breakfast had lots of choices but was average, and service there was lacking. The buggies take you up and down, but there’s some wait after calling for one.

For ₹13,000 a night, this felt like a complete waste, and I expected much better care and service. Staff communication at check-in was unclear and courtesy was lacking. At checkout I got several reminder calls, which I understand, but when I asked for 10-15 minutes to finish getting ready, they showed little flexibility. The resort didn’t seem fully occupied, which made that more frustrating. The room itself also fell short. The premium “lake view” looks over a small pond, which felt misleading, and leaving the balcony door open brought in lots of mosquitoes. The “smart TV” couldn’t connect to the property WiFi. The bathroom needs maintenance, and the bed and sofa were dusty, as if the room hadn’t been cleaned properly in weeks.

Go here if you want to relax in the sun, and the pool is great too. I beat my Finnish friend at basketball in the water, though it was an easy win and she claimed a point she hadn’t scored. Cream rises to the top. The head massage was first class, literally amazing.
