OYO 1711 Hotel Sepoy Grande

Breakfast was tasty and had a good range of choices, and the location was useful. But we had called several times before arriving to ask about early check-in, and the receptionist said it was available. On the day, the hotel was apparently full overnight, despite rooms being available, and we were told to wait over two hours. Then at 9:30 am, just 2.5 hours before check-in time, a room suddenly became available, but they still wanted 900 extra for early check-in. We’d already waited and were being asked to pay almost half the original tariff. It felt unfair, and the receptionist was rude and abrupt. We paid because we had only one day in Mysore to explore and were running out of time. They took advantage of that. As we were leaving, the receptionist followed us asking for a good review. The irony. The rooms are small, and apart from the food and location I wouldn’t suggest staying here. The hotel staff felt dishonest and completely unprofessional, focused only on money.

I stayed with my family on 15/02/2026, and it was a terrible experience. The hotel looked good in the online photos, but reality was very different. One of the two rooms I booked smelled awful. At first they refused to change it, saying no rooms were available. After a lot of discussion, they moved us and called it an upgrade, while telling me I should leave a good review. That’s up to us to decide. The supposed upgrade wasn’t clean either: the bed and pillows were covered in hair, and the AC didn’t work the whole time. Some switch boards were broken. When I complained about the cleanliness, they changed the pillow, but I was exhausted and fell asleep. I got an allergy on my face from that pillow. The staff were totally unprofessional. I’m writing this so others don’t have their vacation ruined. Don’t book this hotel.

The open parking was spacious and convenient, but everything else made this a disappointing stay. The room was clean, yet the washroom was poorly maintained and smelled strongly of drainage. When the room was closed, the stench became unbearable and ruined our comfort. Dinner was average and arrived cold. One person was trying to handle nearly 15 tables while also bartending, taking orders, and bringing food, so service was painfully slow and the dining room felt chaotic. There’s no intercom in the rooms, and nobody answered our calls to the hotel. We had to go down to reception every time we needed help. Poor upkeep, too few staff, cold food, and no response make this place hard to recommend.

I found hair in my food, and the staff showed no concern or accountability when I told them. There was no apology and no attempt to fix the problem, just indifference. A friendly welcome doesn’t make up for poor cleanliness. It was unpleasant and unacceptable, and I’d tell others to think twice before eating here. Hygiene shouldn’t be compromised.
