I slept really well here. The bed was big and the mattress comfortable, and the room was spacious, with the shower and toilet in one large room. The homestay is clean, and the food was fresh and delicious, among the best local food I’ve had so far in Kerala. The owner was kind, welcoming, and helpful. It’s in a quiet part of Kumily, with a lovely jungle view and birdsong in the morning. Very relaxing.

Mrs. Bincy made us a very good Kerala breakfast, and the room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. Mrs. Bincy and Mr Jobin were warm and helpful, and we also got to meet their lovely daughter. They helped us book tickets for the Kathakali and Kalaripayatu shows. The homestay is within walking distance of the Periyar forest reserve and good restaurants. We stayed through Airbnb on 07-08 Jan 26, and their whole family made it a friendly, comfortable visit. I highly recommend the place.

The family were so kind and welcoming, and helped me plan my route to the next stop, including which bus to take. The traditional Kerala breakfasts and evening meals were delicious. Dinner felt like a little banquet, with several dishes to try. It’s on a quiet road, less than a five minute walk from Kumily’s bustle, about five minutes on foot from the main bus station and around ten minutes from the periyar tiger park entrance. The bedrooms are a good size, with modern ensuites and comfortable beds. I’d definitely stay again.

They booked Kathakali tickets for me and pointed me to a great local spice market, and the Kerala breakfasts each morning were delicious and made with care. The hosts were always smiling, helpful, and attentive to my comfort. I felt more like I was with family than staying at a property. From the hot coffee when I arrived to help with laundry, a hair dryer, and cold milk when I mentioned my acidity, they were thoughtful throughout. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back.

Our cab was late when we needed to get to Periyar National Park early, so the hosts drove us there themselves. It’s only about five minutes away, and they also showed us where to buy tickets and catch the bus, which made the morning stress-free. We were at Periyar Inn, Thekkady for just one night, but the kindness and hospitality really stood out. The room was clean, tidy, comfortable, and well kept, and the included homemade breakfast was delicious and worth it. I’d recommend Periyar Inn to anyone visiting Thekkady.
