Periyar Meadows Leisure Hotels

I booked three rooms under the name Srinivas for Nov 29-30, but used only two. At check-in we were given two keys, and the hotel acknowledged that the third room was unused and released. At checkout the General Manager said the refund would be processed the next day. The day before, when I asked about it, he had been rude and said, "I am not gonna fly anywhere," which felt offensive, especially as I had come from a neighbouring state. More than a month has passed, with several phone follow-ups. I was repeatedly told the refund would happen immediately, including after Christmas and again on December 31st, but nothing has been refunded and the hotel has not contacted me proactively. The repeated assurances without action are the most concerning part. I’ve had to take this through formal grievance channels, which should not be necessary for a straightforward refund. Future guests should get any refund or cancellation commitment in writing before checkout.

Breakfast was the worst part of our stay at Periyar Meadows in Thekkady. It was included in what we had paid, but the dining area had small insects crawling around near the food. When we raised it, staff didn’t properly clean the area. The plates, bowls, and spoons were visibly dirty too, and even after repeated requests for basic cleanliness and proper service, they were indifferent. We left without eating. Staff were arrogant and unprofessional throughout, lied about services, and showed no interest in helping. The hygiene and service were pathetic. They took payment for breakfast but served us insects and filth. Avoid this place to protect your health and money. Zero stars, and I’d never recommend it.

We booked three rooms, but when we got to the hotel around 11:45am they weren’t ready. No one offered water or a welcome drink, and when we asked for water we were told it cost extra. There was no hot water in the bathroom in the morning. Breakfast was a mess, with only two people serving and cleaning. They were rude when we asked for refills, and ants were crawling around the bread table. When we told staff, they said the ants were on the table, not the bread. Mr. Abhishek became aggressive when we asked for the table to be cleaned. We asked for refunds for all three rooms and called the manager, but staff misled us. We waited an hour and a half for him, and he never came to meet us. Staff ignored us as if we didn’t belong there. They still haven’t refunded us, and now neither they nor the manager pick up my or my travel agent’s calls. They’re rude on the phone too.

We arrived at 6 pm after a long journey from munnar with a group of 59 people. The hotel manager and staff handled everything well and gave us great service. Their hospitality was the best part. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Thekkady.
