OYO 8691 Le Fortune

The only positives I can mention are the underground parking and the geyser for hot water. Everything else was a letdown. The rooms are cramped, the bathroom smelled, and a cockroach was in my room. I was worried enough to use my own towels. The bathroom taps were broken and cheap, and the TV cable didn’t work. I paid for an AC room, but had to argue with the manager to get the AC turned on. They switch it off when running the generator. Apparently this happens to other customers too. After I finally got it running, the manager acted like I’d asked for part of his family property. I had to ask for help with my bags as well. The complimentary breakfast actually had an Rs 80 per person limit, which the manager never mentioned when I booked. The restaurant food was average and a bit expensive, and the service was so poor they barely looked at you. You can pay only by Paytm or cash, no cards. I know it’s a budget hotel and kept my expectations in line with that, but the photos had fooled me too. The manager apologized at checkout, maybe because he thought I’d leave a review. If you still plan to book, go ahead. I’m just sharing what I spent and hope you get better service.

The manager was helpful and looked after our needs, and the hotel’s in a prime part of Kushalnagar, with most tourist spots nearby. A few are still 30 Kms from town. We stayed one night, though a 3-4 day visit would be fine here. Our room wasn’t ready at check-in, so we waited and were given a temporary room in the meantime. The room itself was decent, with good light, comfortable spacious beds, and a clean bathroom. Towels and toiletries were brought when we asked, though they should have been there already. Breakfast tasted good, but could have had more choices. For the room price, that was understandable.

The Thalassery mutton Biriyani was great, and the food came out fast. The dining setup in the AC room was in a banquet hall style, so families and friends had no privacy. With the seasonal crowds, the ambience wasn’t great. I’m giving it 3 stars for the food and quick service.

The service was really wonderful, and the rooms were kept in good shape. Food was just okay, but the hotel is nicely located and reasonably priced, with good amenities. We had a very nice stay.
