The balcony rooms have views of a lifetime, with towering snowcapped mountains, waterfalls and rushing rivers all around. The staff are few, but very kind and willing to accommodate every request. In the room there’s a double bed, a sofa that converts to a bed, a clean newly built bathroom and a balcony. If you’re after a natural, comfortable, homely feel, this is a great place to stay. I can’t imagine finding scenery like this from the comfort of a room anywhere else, though maybe not if you need a jacuzzi or that sort of luxury. I absolutely loved my time there.

The scenery around the area is lovely, with mountains and waterfalls beside a river stream. I enjoyed my three nights here, and the food was great. It gets pretty cold at night, and room heaters cost extra. The bathroom geyser wasn’t enough for two people, so hot water could be a problem. The staff kindly brought a bucket of hot water to our room.

The riverside rooms are nice, and you can hear the water running all night. Food was simple and good, and the staff and service were decent. We had little heating, though there were enough blankets, and the water heater worked when there was power. Electricity was out for most of the night.

I was glad I only had to spend 12-13 hours there, and couldn’t wait to check out. For Rs. 5000 +, it felt like a waste, and I wouldn’t recommend the place. I’m not sure why the hotel gets good reviews. It definitely doesn’t feel like a 3 star hotel. There was no Wifi, though perhaps hotels throughout Lachung don’t have it. The TV wasn’t working, so I had to ask someone to repair it. The bed warmer also failed, and a man came to fix it. He had anger issues and threw things around, though he did eventually get it working. There were old, used slippers left in the room for guests. The food was awful, and the paneer tasted like garlic. It’s a very small hotel without many people working there.

The hospitality was good, and I’d still rate this hotel five stars. The food was average, but they served it fresh and hot, which matters a lot in Lachung at -3 degrees. The heater won’t warm you all the way, though it does help in the freezing cold. If you bring a heating pad, the two together make the stay comfortable.
