Gangs-Shun Homestay

The family were so, so, so lovely and helpful, and there was a very cute kitten and dogs too. Our room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful mountain view. Leh market was about a 10-minute walk away.

The rooftop has a great view of Mt Stok Kangri, with Shanti Stupa visible across the other side. Our own room didn't have much of a view, though it was clean and airy. We liked the quiet morning breakfast in the front lawn, among the small apple garden and garden chairs. The homestay is beautifully decorated and well maintained, and within walking distance of Leh Market. We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked longer. I recommend it for the rooms and warm hospitality.

The owner is a very old guy and a Doctor, and I found him polite and really helpful. My three-night booking ran into a problem when he couldn't give me a room at his property because of an emergency with one guest. He arranged a room at his brother's place instead and didn't charge me for that night. He even used his own car to transport my luggage, and I appreciate the effort. Rooms and toilets were clean, and the toilets were hygienic. Breakfast is ₹ 120-150 per head for bread omlet or bread butter with tea. I recommend the place 100%, though staffing is very limited, with just one person managing everything.

Just a 10-minute walk from Leh Main market, this is an excellent place to stay. The only issue during our stay was that hot water in the shower was limited. Dr. Murup showed me the extra capacity of solar storage, so hopefully that will take care of it.
