The guesthouse is well-priced and centrally located in Leh, and it would normally be a great place to stay. But I won't return or recommend it because of what happened during the September 2025 protests and lockdown. I'd stayed there several times over the preceding weeks while coming and going from Leh. When the curfew began, I was traveling alone. Nothing was open: no shops or restaurants, and the only possible food was from a guesthouse or a hotel willing to serve non-residents, which most weren't. I came back from a trek on the fourth day of curfew with no food supplies. I usually find hospitality in the Indian Himalayas exceptional, so I was surprised when the host told me to go to a hotel for food. I walked deserted streets around sundown, where the only people around were groups of men, but couldn't find a hotel serving food. I didn't feel comfortable, so I went without dinner that night. The next day, strangers I asked for help gave me food. They were horrified that my guesthouse wasn't providing anything. Friends were getting meals from their guesthouses, and I also ate at their places. The owner never once asked whether I'd managed to find food. I was upset and tired, and with only one or two guests there, it wouldn't have taken much to offer me something basic. I understand that food isn't included with the room. But when tourists are stuck with no options and at the mercy of local people, the guesthouse could have shown some heart and prevented a lot of stress and upset.

Sahida is a lovely host, and there's good tea served throughout the day, included in the price. There isn't any food available here. The house is beautiful and quiet, with a lovely garden to relax in. It's a five-minute walk from the main center. The rooms are spacious, clean, and cozy, with a real home feeling. This has been one of our favorite places since arriving in India. I definitely recommend staying here. Thank you so much, Julia & Lance

Our kids especially loved the garden and Jerry, the dog. This place is tucked away in a quiet corner but still very close to the main bazaar and restaurants. We came back to Shahida several times during our two months in Ladakh, and we'll return when we make it back to Leh someday. Thanks for everything, and all the best!

Right near Leh's main market, this guesthouse is in a super central spot. The hostess is lovely, and the garden's a beautiful place to sit with tea and relax. I'd highly recommend staying here!

The best part of Saiman Guest House is its location, less than a five-minute walk from the city center. The owner, Saiman, is very friendly and speaks fluent English. There's a small lounge with free tea, the rooms are spacious, and mine had its own balcony. You can also borrow a spin dryer if you wash your clothes by hand. Hot water was unreliable. I had to change rooms at first because there wasn't any, and even in the new room it kept fluctuating. Faucet pressure was fine, but the showerhead pressure wasn't great. It costs 1800 INR per night. If I hadn't already returned my motorcycle, I might have gone somewhere else. I really needed dependable hot water for showers.
