The Grand Ladakh

The food was simple and tasty, like home cooking, and the rooms and washrooms were both spacious and very clean. There was hot water around the clock, plus WiFi and a generator for when the electricity went out. Mr Naresh, the manager, was friendly and helpful, and saw to our needs. The hotel has lovely traditional woodwork and a great feel to it. It’s close to the airport, Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and the Main market. We had a very nice stay.

The staff at The Grand Ladakh were warm and helpful, and the food was good both in taste and quality. We spent three nights there and really liked how spacious the rooms were. They also had great mountain views, and the insulation kept us warm.

The location is a little away from the main road, but it’s easy to reach and the prices are better than nearby hotels. This small, homely place is run by Mr Wangchuk’s family. He welcomed us warmly in the traditional ladkhian manner, and he and the staff helped us adjust to Leh’s harsh climate and feel comfortable right through checkout. During my four-night stay, room service, breakfast and dinner, which were included in the package, were excellent.

The hotel is only a few metres from Leh’s main market, which made getting around very convenient, and the food was excellent. What really made my time there memorable, though, was the staff. They were kind, polite and courteous, with a professional but very friendly manner. I’d highly recommend staying here.
