After a night train journey, I arrived today and was told foreigners weren’t allowed, even though they knew from the booking information that I was a foreigner. The receptionist was extremely rude, and the employees mocked me. I left without checking in. I’d booked one room through Booking.com. They’d been asking me to pay by Paytm or UPI, which foreigners can’t access. I messaged to say I’d pay cash, but they kept asking for money even though Booking.com already had my payment available. Hotels running this kind of scam shouldn’t be on Booking.com. I feel extremely unhappy about this and hope Booking.com takes action.

We were hardly 10 minutes from the station by auto, and the staff were really nice. They let us check in early at 7 am without charging extra, and the service was quite prompt. They also arranged an auto for local sightseeing at a reasonable price. The driver was friendly and took us to the city’s famous eateries as well as genuine handloom shops for shopping.

Don’t book with these untrained, unprofessional people in advance. You could lose your hard-earned money. Even after you book a room, they might give it to someone else. Their word means nothing.

We stayed one night in Gomti Nagar. The staff weren’t well trained, but they were humble and listened to our requests, trying to do their best. The price is a little high for the middle range. I think they should cut room charges by at least 20%. Breakfast arrived an hour late in the morning, though the Aaloo-Payaz Parantha, tea and curd tasted good.
