Hotel Golden Sky

The receptionist told me not to book through a well-known app, saying online booking wasn't an option. We went to the hotel, and then they said payment had to be in cash, with no online option. In this digital age even a roadside street food seller has UPI, so that was frustrating. Don't get fooled there.

From the street the hotel looks nice, but the stay was bad. The balcony had so much litter and dirt that it wasn't somewhere you could relax, and there was no Wi-Fi in the room. I asked about Wi-Fi before checking in, but wasn't told it was unavailable until after I'd paid. The receptionist said there seemed to be a problem and it would be fixed in an hour or two, but it never was. Wi-Fi worked only on the ground floor. The service was terrible. The person at reception was rude and disrespectful, and the only amenity was a toothbrush. There was no hair dryer, and when I asked, he just said “outside,” meaning I should go buy one. The price wasn't worth the quality, and it was hard to complain because they spoke little English. Not again.

I was traveling without a plan and found this hotel around midnight. It was a good experience, a peaceful place away from the crowds of lukhnow, with the best amenities.

I couldn't eat the food. It tasted stale, half the dishes arrived cold, and they looked as if they'd been sitting out for hours. The hygiene seemed nonexistent. The room was just as bad: dirty floors, stained walls, worn-looking furniture, and overpowering cigarette smoke, even though I'd asked for a smoke-free area. The old, dirty linens and bad-smelling towels added to it. In the bathroom there was mold in the corners, a clogged sink, and a toilet that didn't look properly sanitized. I wouldn't touch anything in there bare-handed. Service was shockingly poor. The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, lied about amenities and services, and made promises they didn't keep. It felt like they wanted me gone as quickly as possible. Everything seemed unclean and badly maintained, and they clearly didn't care about guests or customer service. I've stayed in many hotels, but this was a nightmare from start to finish. I can't believe it is still in business. I strongly think Hotel Golden Sky in Lucknow should be shut down. It's not fit to stay in and shouldn't be allowed to operate like this. Please avoid it at all costs.
