I’d give this zero stars if I could. The rooms had cockroaches, the light fixtures were broken, and the linens were dirty. Before heading to the airport, staff offered to weigh my luggage, then asked for Rs 50 after weighing it. They conveniently hadn’t mentioned the charge beforehand.

The only good thing was being near Hazrathganj market. Our first room had a broken AC, no Wi-Fi, and cockroaches, so we asked to move. The replacement room had fine hairs all over the mattress and a very dirty bathroom. They eventually changed the sheet and cleaned the bathroom, but it ate into our sightseeing time, even though we’d confirmed our arrival with full payment. The rooms were dingy, and the Fab certification was useless. The clerk asked so many questions about our travel that it felt like an interrogation. We’re a retired bank-official couple and senior citizens.

It was a nightmare. The rooms smelled, the floor was sticky, there was no water in the pipe, and rotten food was left on the hallway floor. My whole body is itching now, and I’ll take this to consumer court. I asked them in the morning to change the unwashed sheets and gave them the keys so they could replace the sheets and pillow covers while I was out. Nothing had been done when I got back. After I called three times, they came and changed the sheet, but the new one was even worse. I had to sleep lying on a towel.

The staff’s service made up for every shortcoming, even compared with the hotel’s location and the cleanliness of five-star hotels. They were super cooperative for both our morning check-in and our checkout the following evening. Loved how they looked after us. “Muskuraiye aap Lucknow mein hai” really fits.
