Hotel Prem Nivas

The owner deserves a special mention. He was empathetic, polite and kind, and called 3-4 days after our trip to check how my mom was doing after she became unwell while we were travelling back. You don't often find people like that. The hotel is about 700mts from Meenakshi Amman temple and 300mts from the railway station. Service was good and the AC rooms were good too, though there were cockroaches and the washroom ventilation was a concern.

I was getting ready to leave when housekeeping and another staff member came straight to my room at exactly 12 PM. I had checked in very late, at 11:45 PM on 1st May, for checkout on 2nd May, after booking through MakeMyTrip. It felt uncomfortable and unexpected. The reception lady said checkout was at noon, so they'd sent someone. I travel often and book through Agoda and Goibibo too, but haven't had this kind of treatment before. Customers should be treated more courteously and given a little time and privacy. One of my worst hotel bookings through MakeMyTrip.

The bathroom stank, and there was no exhaust fan in the toilet, so the smell reached the room. We found a cockroach on the bed and mosquitoes in the room. I bought Allout for us to use. Two of the three people in our group felt ill. There was no toilet paper, and the receptionist was very rude. We don't recommend it. The temple is a 10-minute walk away. 😔😔

We ended up staying in two AC rooms and one Non AC room, after arriving around 12:30 midnight on 26th December. We were three families with small kids, visiting for Meenakshi Temple Darshan, and had booked three AC rooms for 26th & 27th December 2025. They had told us no advance payment was needed and confirmed all three rooms were booked, including when we called from the train. But at arrival the Manager said only two AC rooms and one Non AC room were available. We couldn't find anything else in the middle of the night, and there was also a language problem. One staff member at Hotel Prem Niwas was pleasant, but the overall experience there was not. A staff member at the opposite Hotel Grand Sabrees helped us sit there and gave us water. Meenakshi Temple is under renovation, but Vishnu Temple is very beautiful.
