OYO 36626 Eden Residency

The rooms weren't clean or hygienic, and they didn't look like the photos on popular travel sites. I wouldn't recommend this location for families. Before we arrived, the staff didn't respond when we tried to contact them. Once there, we waited nearly half an hour for the caretaker. He was rude and unhelpful. We ended up booking another hotel through Agoda and tried to get our advance back from OYO, but they refused with flimsy excuses. This was the worst experience I've had with an OYO booking. I'd give zero stars if I could. Don't choose this hotel.

I booked a room for my last day attending a conference at Madurai Velammal Medical college. The booking was confirmed, but when we arrived at 9:20 pm, the app showed it had been cancelled. The reception area was empty and the door was locked. A few minutes later, a man appeared, seemed drunk, said there was no booking, and told us to wait outside until the manager came to sort it out. He was talking to us while we stood out there, and guests should at least be treated with some manners. It was eventually cancelled, and we booked somewhere else. One star is the lowest rating available. I wish there were negative stars.

The bathrooms were terrible and stinking, and one had a see-through window, which definitely meant girls couldn't bathe there. Cleanliness only gets two stars from me. We chose this place for a friend's wedding, but didn't get our rooms on time because they said the previous guests had taken the key. Even though we got the room very late, the night watchman, who acted like a warden, told us to check out first thing in the morning without knowing anything about our situation. He also came into the room without warning and started shouting about a door, despite us having told them we were friends and had come together. A really bad experience.

We left frustrated without checking in, so I can't comment on the rooms or facilities. The location was a bit hard to find, and at 7 AM there was no one to receive my family or help us while we waited by the road. I'd called the owner the day before and confirmed the OYO booking, but when I called from there, he casually said the rooms were full and asked if we could wait until 9 AM for other guests to check out. When I said no, he sent me to a manager's number. That manager didn't know I was coming and passed me to a watchman who wasn't nearby. After about 15 minutes, the watchman returned, called the manager, and said the rooms were full. As I was leaving, I overheard the manager tell him, "Let them go"! Having a big house listed on OYO doesn't make it a hotel.
