Sand Beach Vadanemmeli by OYO Rooms

The beach is 40 metres behind the property, but there isn't much food nearby unless you have your own vehicle. The place is badly managed, with little maintenance. Staff ignored us or just stared off, and wouldn't connect us with the manager or another staff member. The rooms were disgusting, with cockroaches, insects, dirty walls, and dirty furniture. They don't provide food or help, and the swimming pool isn't there, so the listing is misleading. The photos seem to be from when it was newly built. I'd strongly suggest staying away.

We came with friends from Chennai and paid Rs.12000/ for one night, but the house wasn't worth that rate. The bed and sheets were old and smelled, and the pool was in poor condition. One friend got a deep cut on his foot from broken pool tiles, so swimmers should be careful. We also ordered dinner, breakfast, and non-veg snacks. The food was very poor, although breakfast was okay. The owners should either lower the tariff or make major improvements. Visit first, then decide whether to stay.

The maintenance and housekeeping staff were friendly, and reception was courteous, but this didn't suit our family at all. The rooms smelled of nicotine and tar, which could be suffocating for anyone with asthma or breathing problems. The access road is broken and difficult in a small car, and parking is outside the property. The nearby beach has only a couple of metres of shoreline and felt shady, with drainage from the beach house properties flowing there. Weekend stays seem mostly taken by groups partying and couples. I was impressed by the reviews and booked two nights for my family, then realized my mistake and left the next day without a refund. I'd say it's suitable for friends or couples, definitely not families.

The pool was well kept and the beach is an easy walk away, so it's a nice option with friends. The rooms weren't fully cleaned, though, and the garden area was small. Pool: 4/5. Room: 3/5. Overall: 3.5.
