The setting was the main draw for us: nearly all the key sights are an easy walk away, though parking was a bit of a challenge. We visited in the second week of February and would gladly come back. The property sits against the walls of historic Maheshwar Fort, with a street-level café and living quarters set back inside. It doesn't feel grand or royal, more like being welcomed into a village zamindar's home. The restoration has been handled thoughtfully, and the rooms have tasteful, restrained décor. We had the upper-level “Magpie Robin” room; the stairs could be inconvenient for older guests, and an in-room intercom would be useful. We were pleasantly surprised by the open terrace. At the café, you can sit in the open courtyard or under cover, both relaxed spaces. The food was flavourful and satisfying. Staff were attentive and courteous, and one of them told us the story behind the property's name. Our driver managed the parking.

After time exploring the ghats, Laboz Café is a peaceful place to slow down. It's tasteful, minimal, and cozy, with a calm feel that suits Maheshwar. I liked the fresh, comforting food and well-made coffee, and everything looked nicely presented. It felt easy to spend a long while chatting, reading, or just enjoying the quiet. A lovely little spot for coffee and a relaxed break. ✨☕

Affordable and worth the price. The place looks great, 5/5 for aesthetics, and the ambience gets 4/5. Good for meeting friends, getting work done, or some solo time. Food and snacks: 4/5, portions are worth it. South Indian dishes are especially delicious, and the sandwiches and their own dishes are worth trying. The coffee tastes excellent, and presentation is 4/5. They'll ask what you'd like, or you can tell them your order. Must visit if you're at Maheshwar fort.

Inside the fort walls, this room has loads of history and looks out over a small square. It was very clean and tastefully decorated, with hot water in the en suite, AC, and a fan. There was some daytime noise, but it quieted down after 10 or 11 pm and stayed that way until around 7am.

We stopped in for breakfast and snacks, and really liked the place. The food was delicious and the hospitality impressed us. If you're visiting Maheshwar, it's worth dropping by beside the palace. I'd love to stay at their lodge next time.
