Moonstone Hammock Alibaug

The food, setting, and accommodation were all very good, and the Christmas program went smoothly. Moonstone at Awas beach is such a cozy, calm place, and this stay will stay with me as one of my best trips. Mr Sunny Dubey was really helpful when arranging the booking. Mr Gaurav led the service with a polite, professional manner and was prompt and helpful throughout. The whole staff did a wonderful job. I was glad I spent Christmas at Moonstone. Thanks, everyone.

The coastal seafood festival was a real treat. I tried several dishes from starters through dessert, and the variety, flavor, presentation, and local food were all right on point. The restaurant sits in an open, tree-filled area within walking distance of Awas Beach. There are tents, cabins, and rooms to stay in, plus a pool. At night the place has a great atmosphere, and you can sit outside with a beer or wine, enjoy the weather, and relax. It’s a lively spot with good accommodation options. I’d recommend it.

I stayed here for one night yesterday. The rooms were nice, but the service really let the place down. There’s no emergency button in the room. At Buddha cafe, the person in charge wouldn’t serve several items listed on the menu, including the fish I’d come hoping to try after seeing their reels. The next morning, pancakes were on the menu and advertised at the entrance, but they refused to make those too. It didn’t feel worth the price, especially with so little service. Their reels show live music, but there was none at the venue.

The location and atmosphere are the strongest parts of Moonstone Hammock alibaug. It’s set among coconut palms and tropical trees, with a dozen or more friendly dogs wandering around. The beach is very clean and easy to get to, and there are games and live music, so it has a nice getaway feel for friends or couples. Ashish was especially prompt, and the service was good. The stay itself felt overpriced. We paid 9K per night for what was basically a dressed-up tent, with little storage, no table fan, only basic toiletries beyond a plastic toothbrush, and taps in the open bathroom that seemed temperamental. The breakfast was limited to poha, egg bhurji, and one extra dish, and wasn’t very satisfying. We happened to be there for the coastal food festival, but the menu was exactly the same for both days. There were only two vegetarian dishes we found palatable, and the in-house cafe wasn’t offering other food to encourage people to eat from the festival menu. Festival prices, like the room rate, were 70-80% above what the same menu costs at a local restaurant. Stay: 5/10. Food: 6/10. Location: 9/10. Service: 8/10. Music and activities: 9/10.
