Advika guest house

I'd have given this zero stars if that were possible. I booked for 4 people on Booking.com, then the owner, Mrunali, called to say the website price was wrong. She gave me the caretaker Deshpande's number. I said I'd come look at the rooms and book after that. When we arrived in the afternoon, I was with my family, including two elderly ladies, and Deshpande was clearly drunk. There was a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, and his eyes were red and puffy. We overlooked it because we were there to see the rooms. My family liked one room and we tried to negotiate since we only needed it for the night. He told us we could leave if the price was too high. We started to go, but we were tired and had nowhere else to go, so we said to go ahead with the booking. He then shamelessly said there were no rooms available and wouldn't give us one, even though all the rooms were locked. I tried asking again, but his ego was bigger. Staying right near the rooms, he was an arrogant and ill-mannered caretaker, and the whole encounter was terrible. As someone from Goa, I've never felt so disrespected, especially in my hometown by someone who isn't even Goan. People like that should be shown their place.

We spent a couple of days at Advika for our friends' latest Goa get together. The property is very nicely maintained, with clean, good rooms. Mr. Deshpande provided very good service. I'd definitely recommend it to friends and families.

Deshpande ji, who looks after the property, is a gem and the person to go to if you need something you hadn't planned for. The rooms are decent and spacious, and the rates stay fairly reasonable even in season. It's in the middle of Mapusa, close to the beaches and Mapusa bus stand. If all you need is a decent sleep and a shower, you might wonder why pay more, while still having space to plan your late night fun.

We stayed 3 days and felt very safe. The hotel was clean, and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean too. The owners are caring and give it a family feel. It's right on the road, so it's easy to travel to North GOa, and there's an ATM downstairs. It's not a luxury hotel and there was no breakfast, though we could get tea on demand, which was nice. We had a very good experience and a wonderful stay.
