Hotel Astoria

Astoria Hotel’s rooms were clean, comfortable, and well looked after, and the food was good. Its location also makes it easy to get to popular beaches, attractions, and places to eat, which is a big convenience in Goa.

The food was a real highlight, with excellent taste and quality. The grounds are large, with several separate buildings set among trees and greenery. It’s about 3 km from Mapusa and 7 km from Anjuna Beach, so you’re close to the beach but away from the city bustle. I had a very nice stay here, and after visiting once, you’ll want to book it again in Goa.

Book ahead if you want to stay here, since there aren’t many rooms and they’re usually full. This is my most memorable family stay after visiting Goa 50-51 times. The room was around 500sq ft, with a pool right in front, and Baga beach was within walking distance for water sports and other activities. The staff were excellent and always ready to help, and breakfast was awesome. For a beachside hotel for families or couples, this is the best one in Goa. It’s now rated no. 2 by trip advisor, and I’m sure it’ll soon become the no. 1 hotel in that area.

Aaron and Pascal were especially helpful when I met and spoke with them, and the atmosphere felt homely. Astoria is a good option for a peaceful vacation in north Goa, with Mapusa market and most important beaches not far away. I visit goa quite often and like its calmness and local feel, which is why this place suited me. The property is excellent and in a quiet, cool location. The rooms are spacious and clean. It’s an old property, so not every detail can be spic and span, but I appreciated it as it is.
