The buffet had lots of tasty options, both veg and non-veg, with breakfast, lunch, snacks and tea, and dinner included. For the price, the value is really high. The pool isn't heated, so check how cold the water is first. You need a polyester costume, or you can rent one for 100 a day. There's plenty to do, including rabbit time, DJ, Housie, group games, chess and carrom. Wi-Fi worked well even though there's no network, and the TV was usable, if not great. They can arrange transport too. We checked in at 12 and out at 10. Seems good for families, friends, couples and younger groups. To get there, take the pedestrian lane near jama masjid, look for the sign, then head into the property. The food and hospitality were great.

The food and entertainment shows were good. Cleanliness and hygiene need work, though, and the rooms could use renovation. The room rates feel much too high for the ambience and service they provide.

The calligraphy at the hotel was brilliant, and the person doing it was brilliant too. Horseland Hotel and Mountain Spa in Matheran seems to get mixed reviews. Guests praise the scenery, food and friendly staff, especially Mr. Percy and Mr. Sachin. There are activities like swimming, DJ nights and games, so it sounds like a good place for families.

The buffet has plenty of tasty veg and non-veg choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including chaat and panipuri. The magic and puppet shows are worth seeing too. Every visit leaves me feeling satisfied.

My family and I had a memorable stay here in 2026, 18 years after my last visit in 2008, when Horseland was mostly just rooms. The resort is central, close to the market and several sightseeing spots. The rooms were excellent, clean and well equipped, and everything promised in the brochure was delivered. Room service was quick even in a busy season. Every staff member we met was hardworking, polite, helpful and dedicated. The other guests were families too, which made for a nice crowd. I'd absolutely come back, and Horseland remains my preferred resort. The food was exceptional across breakfast, lunch and dinner. The kitchen deserves credit. A few preferences: make the bhurji spicy like the omelette, offer pav instead of bread, and make the sambar less sweet, since I know there's a Gujarati crowd. The coffee was fantastic. I do want to mention one serious pool safety issue from my stay. Diving isn't allowed, but there were no lifeguards or warning signs, and parts of the pool are 5.5 feet deep. It was crowded when a family let their teenage daughter dive from at least six feet after asking other guests to move aside. I told them diving wasn't allowed. They apologized, but her mother later kept taunting our group, as if I was only finding fault with them. I didn't engage. I took it to reception instead; they said they'd look into it, but I didn't see anything change. People kept diving, with no lifeguards or safety measures after I reported it. A life is precious, and this kind of incident could cost the resort its license if someone gets hurt. This is what happened during my visit, so other families should be aware and take care. It would also help if someone could assist with transport home. I understand the transport person isn't part of the resort, but arranging it could be a good source of income. Booking went fine, though it would be useful to have someone who answers or returns calls. I'm not comfortable discussing things on WhatsApp because of past fraud issues, but this booking worked out. Love you, Horseland, for another great experience. We visited after 18 years and found the same great service.
