The Byke Heritage Pure Veg Hotel

The staff made this visit to The Byke Heritage, Matheran feel warm and homely. Everyone was courteous, attentive, and ready to help. Hotel Manager Lavina Madam deserves special thanks for her leadership, personal attention to guests, and commitment to service standards. Front Office Manager Akshay was efficient and friendly, and handled guest interactions with care. The property has a serene setting and heritage-style architecture that suit Matheran well. Rooms were airy, comfortable, and had the essential amenities; the hotel was clean and felt well organized throughout. It was a lovely break from busy city life.

We stayed at The Byke Heritage, Matheran from 27th May to 28th May, and the food, breakfast buffet, and evening entertainment were enjoyable. Gauri sang, followed by the resort disco. But the missing facilities overshadowed those good parts of the stay. The resort advertises 3 pools as a major attraction, yet on arrival we were told only 1 was operating. That pool was only partly filled and didn't look as advertised. The rain dance facility was unavailable too, and neither limitation had been clearly explained before booking. Many guests complained to management, and I saw several of those complaints myself. I also have video showing the pool area's condition and guests' dissatisfaction. The lack of transparency was the biggest disappointment. We paid expecting the advertised amenities, learned about the restrictions only after arriving, and got no refund, compensation, or satisfactory resolution after raising the issue. I hope management tells guests in advance when major facilities aren't available, so families can decide with the right information.

The stay was good and satisfactory. The Byke hotel is surrounded by lush greenery, about a 15-minute walk from Matheran railway station and 1 km from Charlotte lake. Rooms were clean, service was fine, and the food was about what I expected. It seems like a good choice on weekends. There's live karaoke each night hosted by Mrs. Gauri Kawthankar, a well-known singer with an outstanding voice, followed by a live DJ in a good club room.

Set a little away from the market, this huge heritage property is peaceful and mixes modern facilities with old-world charm. Food is good, though strictly vegetarian, and alcohol is available. There's a nice pool, adventurous activities for kids and adults, plus evening karaoke and a really good disco. It's a well-known hotel in Matheran. A bit expensive, but worth it.
