Rhino and River Wildlife Retreat & Spa, Pobitora - Member of SLH Hilton Hotels

Being so close to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary makes Rhino and River Resort a handy choice for nature and wildlife lovers, and it still gives you plenty of comfort after a day out. The riverside setting among lush greenery is calm and feels far removed from city life. Our room was spacious, very clean, and nicely designed, with lovely views. The property is well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. Waking up to fresh air and the sounds of nature was refreshing, and I can see it working well for couples, families, or solo travelers looking for peace. The staff were warm, polite, and always ready to help, which made us feel welcome. We also enjoyed the fresh, delicious food, including local Assamese flavors and familiar options. Rhino and River Resort made for a relaxing, rejuvenating stay in Assam. We’ll definitely return.

It’s on the pricier side, but I felt the full Pobitora experience made it worthwhile. If you only need somewhere to sleep before a safari, this might not be the place. For comfort, good food, and warm people, it’s a great choice. The meals were freshly prepared, served hot, and planned with care. There’s no buffet or menu pricing, as everything is included, so you can just enjoy eating. The rooms were beautiful and extremely comfortable, and from check-in to checkout the team focused on helping us feel at ease. Thanks to Mr. Mani Gurung (Manager) for keeping everything running smoothly and being available, Mr. Nayan Saikia (Front Desk) for quick responses and coordination, Mr. Babumani Saikia for making our Pobitora visit special with the safari, bird watching, local shopping, and time spent playing with our son, and Biju (Restaurant Manager) for making sure every meal was fresh, delicious, and on time. Thanks as well to all the other staff whose names I didn’t catch. Their warmth and quiet efficiency made a real difference.

The restaurant food tasted good, and the quiet, uncrowded resort was soothing for our baby. The staff were warm and welcoming. Mr. B. Sarkar welcomed and served us wonderfully, and even took some great pictures of us. My main issue was the way meals are priced. There’s no à la carte or buffet menu, just an experimental menu that changes each day, and the charge is 2k per person plus tax no matter what you eat.

The food was the best part of our stay. Everything was made fresh for us, and the local Assamese dishes were delicious. Mr Banajeet at the restaurant was gracious, helpful, and polite. We also enjoyed the live music there. The rooms looked gorgeous and had all the amenities, and we absolutely loved staying here. The showers could use better water pressure, though, and December was incredibly cold. Management should consider providing heaters. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.
