The Unmad

The serene views and beautiful location made our stay even better, and the hosts were so warm and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable, and the hospitality was excellent. The food was one of the highlights too, everything tasted great and the prices were reasonable. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it.

I spent three weeks at Unmad and had a spacious, comfortable, clean room. The staff were lovely, gave me personal attention, and were always willing and kind when I had a request. It was nice to sit in the common area, have a meal, and chat with other friendly people. The spot was convenient for me, quiet but still within walking distance of Dharamkot and Bhagsu. I’ll choose Unmad again next time I’m in the area.

The host is what makes The Unmad feel so personal. He’s warm and knowledgeable, and takes time to talk about Dharamkot, nearby cafés, places to visit, and local culture. It felt like a welcoming stay, not just a hotel. A good choice for travelers who want to experience Dharamkot beyond sightseeing. The five friendly dogs were a highlight for us, and we enjoyed playing with them after long days exploring. The food was excellent, and we appreciated that veg and non-veg dishes are cooked separately, which shows care and hygiene. Rooms have basic facilities and lovely mountain views. Just be aware the property is above Lower Dharamkot. It’s walkable, but the steep roads and stairs can be tiring.

The stairs up to the hostel are long and steep, so I’ll need to improve my fitness before coming back. Still, it was completely worth it. I loved having hot chocolate on my patio at the very top, looking out at the panoramic view! The Unmad team were incredibly kind and made me feel at home. It’s peaceful, with a good, diverse crowd and a great vibe for solo travelers. My room was clean, cozy, and nicely set up, and the food was delicious. I love animals, so the adorable mountain dogs around the property were a big plus. If I could give six stars, I would.
