The BlackBuck Morjim Hotel

The rooms have plenty of space, but they aren't furnished well. Even basic things like soap, toilet paper, and toothpaste were missing, and there were power cuts too. The room boy was quick to help us, but the place clearly depends on its management, and that part let it down. The photos make it look good, but once you arrive, things don't work.

The broken door locks were a safety concern, and the staff were very rude. We paid 1lakhs for two days, yet the host, Mr Mantosh Sharma, had no bill book. After receiving the full amount, he left the hotel without giving us a bill. I argued with him on the phone for more than two hours before he finally sent a bill on plain paper. The whole episode cost us a day at the property when we had planned to go calgunte. On a bill of roughly one lakh, the discount was just RS 265. The host was unprofessional, saying one thing, doing another, and charging something else. We also found the location difficult to reach, at the far end of MORJIM, and the village panchyat rules meant no music and no speaking loudly because neighbours might object. There were too many restrictions on using the swimming pool, and we felt no courtesy or respect despite the amount of business we gave them. Horrible experience. Better to avoid this property, you'll regret going.

Our 2BHK had AC and a nice balcony view, and the rates felt fair for a budget stay. We booked through Agoda. Hot water was available from the geyser, and staff would bring towels if you asked. Food was available, though we didn't get to try it. The downside was the out-of-the-way corner location. The nearest beach is Morning, where turtle nesting takes place, but in August 2019 it was very dirty and inhabitable, so keep that in mind.

We'd told them in advance this was a corporate stay for 34 colleagues, but checkout turned into a three-hour wait and we were given a handwritten bill that seemed half-baked, or made up. Earlier, we had arrived around 8.30 pm, and Mr Mantosh Sharma immediately insisted that we pay the full amount in cash. He kept involving himself in every little thing. The latch didn't work, which was especially worrying with our female colleagues there, and there was no water supply. We'd booked AC rooms but were put in a few shabby, badly maintained non-AC rooms instead. A nightmarish stay, and our holiday was spoiled @blackbuck, Morjim.
