Shaleen Elegance Homestay

The place is comfortable and centrally located, but the owner Anil was the best part. He’s friendly, really helpful, and speaks very good English. We were struggling to book train tickets for the next part of our trip, so he sat down with us, talked through where and when we wanted to go, then used his phone to book everything, including a private driver. A few days after leaving, we couldn’t find the driver at the train station, so we contacted him again and he sorted it out for us. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Would highly recommend this lovely homestay.

As a woman traveling solo, I felt safe here. It’s clean and comfortable, and the owner Anil was professional and very kind. The place is right by the market, cafes, shops, and Nakki Lake. He also helped me find a scooty rental at a very affordable price.

The owner’s warm hospitality made this stay feel like home. He was kind, welcoming, and thoughtful, offering local tips and making sure I had what I needed. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained, and everything looked just as it did in the photos, or even better. The bed was comfortable and all the amenities worked perfectly, so it was easy to relax. A pleasant, hassle-free stay. I’d definitely come back and recommend it.

I paid the full amount in advance, and only an hour before check-in got a call saying “Only couples allowed, no male-only guests.” The booking process never mentioned that the property was only for couples or families, so this came as a complete shock. When I asked for a refund, the owner rudely refused and said they’d return only 45% if somebody else booked the room. Thankfully Agoda refunded the full amount, but the owner’s behavior was unacceptable. The rooms also weren’t impressive and weren’t worth the stress or the price. Don’t waste your time here. Hotel Star Light is right across the road and, in my experience, has much better service, cleaner rooms, and professional management. I’d give Star Light 4 stars without hesitation.
