Guddadamane Homestay

Samanvith is a gracious host who takes the time to suggest travel itineraries around Chikmanglur. The food was excellent during our stay; I had both breakfast and dinner here and would plan to have all meals at the property. It’s a 150-year-old place with beautiful views, set amid nature and coffee estates.

My 30th birthday here turned into one of the most amazing, memorable birthdays of my life. Guddadamane Homestay exceeded every expectation, with lovely ambience, outstanding hospitality and delicious food that felt truly homely. The owner and staff were humble and polite. Special thanks to Samanvith and his team member Ravi. Their adorable dogs, Packo and Pluffy, brought so much warmth and charm to our stay. I’d highly recommend this place.

We didn’t interact with the owners, but caretaker Ravi looked after all our needs and did a good job. The food was tasty, although on the expensive side. There are a few cute dogs around, but they can gobble up your evening snacks in no time :). The homestay is about 5 km in from the main road. The rooms were fine and clean; our fan was stuck running at full speed, but otherwise the room was cozy. It’s also a great spot for birdwatching. We stood in the plantation for about 10 minutes and saw at least six different bird species.

The host and staff were friendly, and the location is nice. But the road to the homestay is very bad, and the property itself is very old. Room 5 had no toilet exhaust fan, the toilet seat had disgusting stains, and the doormat was basically trash. For what we paid, it wasn’t worth it.
