Alaya Stays Palm Dale by the Backwaters

The property and rooms were good, but the service was a serious letdown. Our Traveller driver asked where he could use the washroom and find food. A staff member with a neck tattoo rudely sent him to the washroom outside the property, even though common washrooms were available. When we spoke to the manager, we were told the staff member was new and had made a mistake. That response gives you an idea of how staff are trained. Dinner also felt strange. You have to order from the à la carte menu in advance because they need to “procure” everything, and from what I understood, the food isn't cooked fresh on site. We even had to say beforehand how many parottas we wanted. I'd probably skip this place. The infrastructure is good, but the staff and service were well below par.

The calm atmosphere made this a lovely place for a short family break. We enjoyed the local food and the friendly people, and had a relaxing time together. Palmdale Heritage Resort left us with good memories, and we'd be happy to come back.

The food was delicious, freshly made, and full of local flavour, and everything was clean and well organized. The staff were so friendly and polite, always ready to help. Their warm manner made the houseboat trip feel comfortable and welcoming. I'd highly recommend it for a peaceful, enjoyable backwater experience.

That duck roast is fantastic, definitely worth trying. Ashwathy and the staff were always happy to help and did it with a smile. The place sits quietly along the river, which makes for a soothing stay. It could be a little more accommodating for senior citizens.
