Avees River Gardens

Avees River Gardens has a magical setting, but the worn facilities and average food made ₹3500 a day feel like poor value. We stayed with friends on a holiday in Kuttanad, and the grounds were a peaceful place to unwind, with greenery, paddy fields, and photo spots like the snake boat model at the entrance and the hanging bridge. The rooms are spacious enough for families of three or four, with two beds, a single bed, and even a cradle. The building is old, though, and the bathrooms need urgent work: the pipes are old, some don't work properly, water pressure varies, and the heater didn't work well. The plain window glass and curtains that don't close fully also raise privacy concerns, especially for couples or female guests. The setting is directly across from Pulincunno Church, known as a filming location for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Wedding receptions from the church are held at the resort, and bridal parties arrive by boat, which adds to its dreamy feel. The backwaters and scenic paddy fields are breathtaking, and the location alone would get seven stars from me. The complimentary breakfast was basic and disappointing for the rate: Puttu, Kadala Curry, a Banana Fry, and Tea. With renovations and better service, this could become a prime destination. For now, it's worth considering for the location if you're okay with the trade-offs.
