Hotel Golden Palace

The food was the best part for me, it was really tasty, and hotel guests get 10% off. The location is handy too, on LBS Marg near Vidyavihar railway station and Phoenix Market City. The rooms, though, are old and dingy, and need a serious renovation, especially the lighting. There’s no elevator either.

The food was a highlight, especially the excellent biryani and the Mangalorean-style dishes. There’s a restaurant and bar here, and it’s a good place to try authentic South Indian food. It’s also close to the railway station and airport, with Phoenix Mall of Mumbai within walking distance. One of the best places to stay.

The room had a bit of a smell, probably because of the monsoon, and that was the only downside. The bathrooms were clean, the water heater worked, and the 24/7 reception was useful. Service was quick enough, so it was a great stay otherwise.

We booked one night before boarding an international flight, based on someone’s recommendation. The price seems to be for the location, because the rooms aren’t worth what they charge. There are other hotels nearby, and Ginger hotels are much cheaper for the quality you get. If you’re considering this place, check the room they assign first and look at the other nearby options too.
