Hotel Landmark Fort

I’m a seafarer myself, and I’m asking management and the shipping agents to take this seriously and visit to verify what I’ve described. The owner is making an effort to renew and revamp the rooms, but the staff are undoing all that credit. This hotel has arrangements with shipping companies and mostly hosts seamen. Since seamen around the world don’t tend to assert their rights and are treated poorly, these staff take them for granted too, especially as the guests aren’t the ones settling their bills. Shipping agents pay, with the cuts involved. The rooms and location are good, but the service is pathetic and ruins the experience. All the staff, from the doorman to the buffet counter, are untrained, complacent, and unprofessional.

After staying here for almost two weeks, I got no cooperation or help from the staff. Complaints just brought more rude replies. The reception team was consistently arrogant, dismissive, and disrespectful. There’s absolutely no customer service here. It seems the hotel is getting by only because of its location. The service is a complete failure. If respect, courtesy, and good service matter to you, I strongly advise staying away. The reception team urgently needs proper training or replacement.

The in-house buffet is tasty and healthy, and the lighting and room setup give the place a positive feel. Service has some issues, though, and the WiFi sucks. You might also run into problems with the light and water supply. It’s fine, but I wouldn’t recommend it that much.

The Hotel Landmark Fort made for an enjoyable stay, with courteous staff, prompt room service, and a prime Mumbai location near the Shivaji Train Terminus, formerly known as Victoria Terminus. Beds were very comfortable, with excellent mattresses and bedding. Each guest gets two good-quality pillows, one soft and one a bit firmer, which helped make for a restful night. Fourth-floor rooms are larger and better appointed than those on the second and third floors, and the left corridor rooms on four are more spacious than the ones on the right. They have large, floor-to-ceiling French-style windows and dual curtains that can block out all the light. The lower-floor rooms may feel a little cosy, so the larger fourth-floor rooms are worth the extra cost. The rooms also have large LG televisions with the company’s remote, tea and coffee-making facilities, tumbler glasses, a refrigerator, a box of clean white tissues, and a good reading light by the bed. Guests receive complimentary 500 ml bottled water per person per day. Housekeeping refreshed both the bed and bathroom to a spotless condition every day during our extended stay. Bathrooms were spotless, with high-quality faucets and fixtures. The water pressure was excellent, even on the top floor, and hot water was available around the clock. The strong shower sometimes caused a little water logging in the shower area, but it drained efficiently without getting in the way. Toilets flushed well, stayed clean, and resisted staining. Mitsubishi air-conditioning units ran efficiently 24 hours a day. The restaurant and dining area were clean and well maintained. Food was healthy, though a little costly and milder in spice than some might like. The included breakfast had a great spread of Indian-style dishes, several kinds of jam, honey, achar, and marmalade, plus at least three to four kinds of fresh fruit daily. The third-party coffee and juice machines served high-quality sugar-free drinks. Eggs and Indian breads were made fresh to order. Room service was consistently prompt, and staff topped up bottles with RO-filtered water when asked. Even though there’s an in-house restaurant, staff were courteous about delivering outside food to our room.
