OYO 74879 Hotel Imperial Palace

I chose this place because it looked good in the pictures and was near the Gateway of India, the zoo, and Chhatrapati Shivaji station. With Mumbai traffic, that seemed convenient. I called the day before to ask about parking and was told it was available, but when I arrived, a guy charged me 300 for it. They should have said earlier if parking cost extra. I paid anyway. The online price showed 2.1k for one night, but it was marked sold out there and offered directly for 2.8k. I let that go, but the washroom had no water, so we had to manage without flushing before going out. When we came back, the room smelled awful, even after I used my spray. Putting in another 1k could have got me a decent 4-5 star hotel. Coming here was a huge mistake. I'm praying we can somehow get through today until tomorrow 🙏

We booked 13 rooms after the manager showed my organisation a photo of a recently renovated room and made grand promises. We were told everyone would stay in the same property, but once we arrived, they said half the guests would have to go to a nearby lodge. The rooms were dirty and run-down, and one employee was asleep on my bed when I entered. Some bathrooms are out in the main lobby, and the place is infested with rats. The owner or manager was extremely stubborn, and we lost a lot of money that day. One of the worst experiences of my life. I wouldn't recommend this place even to someone I strongly dislike.

The room wasn't even ready when we arrived at 3:15 pm, despite the 9 am check-in time. We had booked two rooms for 7+1 people, one super deluxe triple and one super deluxe quadruple. They gave us the triple, then said the other wasn't ready and offered two tiny, smelly deluxe double rooms instead. After a verbal argument with the badly behaved reception staff, I called the cleartrip guys and finally got what we'd paid for. Even then, the rooms weren't ready, and someone had been in the room before it was shown to us. The room was full of cigarette smoke. My mom asked an employee something that evening, and he spoke to her in a harsh tone and used rude words. This was because they had to carry our luggage upstairs, since there's no lift. Breakfast, which the booking site says is included, was just a guy sitting in a corner with a loaf of bread and butter. I won't get into the room condition, but we woke up with bite marks. There are bed bugs. The reception was the worst I've seen. There's nowhere to sit and no fans, only air conditioning. The building smells fishy and stinky as soon as you walk in, and from outside it looks like a bhoot bangla. First impression: 🤒😷. Never book here, especially with family or kids. Don't let anyone talk you into it. I made that mistake, please don't make it too. Worst hotel experience ever. If negative stars were possible, I'd give it around -6.

The room was tiny and very dirty. There was a wet, filthy towel in the shower, urine splashed on the toilet seat, and dirt and bits of construction material inside the closet. The air was sealed in with no windows, and the ceiling and pillows had mold. An overpowering urinal cake smell seemed to cover sewage odors from drains without u-bends. The tankless heater swung between cold and scalding water. There was one towel, and no soap, shampoo, toilet paper, safe, or fridge. No amenities, and the complimentary breakfast was buttered toast. WiFi was erratic and couldn't handle video streaming. They couldn't take my American Visa card, so my Mumbai host had to pay for the room. This is a poor quality hostel charging hotel prices. I wrote this from a normal hotel a 5 minute walk away, with regular amenities and breathable air, at a similar price. Avoid this one.
