Jal Mahal Resort & Spa, Mysore

Things are a bit old, but generally clean. The rooms and bathrooms had a nice fragrance, the blankets didn’t smell, and the mattresses were comfortable. AC worked well and everything felt hygienic and tidy. Prasad also took the time to hear my feedback and gave personal attention. A nice stay for the money.

The open restaurant was a pleasure, and the location is nice, a little away from traffic noise. There’s good parking, a warm welcome from staff, decent, well-managed rooms, and a mini bar. The small children’s play area could be better maintained. Room service was good in general, but some requests took too long. My coffee never arrived, nor did the cutlery I asked for for my baby’s food. I had to remind them three or four times about fresh towels before they came. An electrician did arrive within minutes to fix a socket issue.

We left some belongings behind and asked the resort to courier them. It’s been over 10 days, and although they say on each call that the items have shipped, we still have nothing and haven’t received tracking details or a proper update. I waited 10 days before writing, hoping the resort would sort this out, but it remains unresolved. We booked through Agoda for two adults and two kids, but the reservation was somehow made for only one adult. We’d already paid around ₹8,000, then were asked for another ₹4,000 and to book a second room when we arrived, because the room we were given was extremely small and unsuitable for a family. Reception staff were unwelcoming and unhelpful. We also waited a long time for help moving our luggage from the car, but nobody came, so we had to carry it ourselves while looking after two kids. Customer service was very disappointing. A very poor experience, not worth the price, and I wouldn’t recommend this resort. There are better places at the same budget.

There’s plenty of parking, places to sit and enjoy the view around the grounds, a small kids’ play area, and a walking path. Jal Mahal Resort & Spa is peaceful, surrounded by scenic nature, and beautifully designed. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained, and the staff were warm and quick to help. There’s a good variety of food. I didn’t try the spa, though I heard the leisure facilities add value. It’s comfortable and tranquil, even if it’s only average in luxury. A good choice for a family holiday, a couple, or anyone wanting a peaceful break with attentive service.
