Hotel River Retreat

The calm atmosphere here felt like a real break from city life, and the restaurant food was delicious. I stayed at Hotel River Retreat near Dharamshala Airport, right beside the river, with peaceful mountain scenery all around. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with great views, and the staff were friendly, warm, and ready to help. It works well for solo travelers or families who want to enjoy nature while staying close to Dharamshala’s key attractions. Waking up to those views was a delight. 🌄🏞️

The cottage was open and safe for our dog to run around, and we loved seeing the river and Dhauladhar from the room and deck. We spent lovely evenings having drinks by a bonfire under the stars. The food was lip-smacking, especially the chilli chicken, fish tikka, authentic kangri dhaam and Khatta meat. We stayed a week with our pet and had an amazing time. Service was quick, efficient and courteous, and the staff made us feel at home. Mr Raj Kapoor, the hotel owner, made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our hill station holiday. A 100/10 for us, and I’d highly recommend Hotel River Retreat. It beats some of the bigger, well-known properties around Dharamshala in every aspect. ☺️

Raj Guleria from the service team was especially supportive and helpful throughout our visit. We stayed in a cottage and had a very good experience. The kids’ area was nicely arranged and well maintained, the service was remarkable, and the food was very good.

The flowing river view was mesmerizing, and the rooms had a peaceful, welcoming feel. I stayed for three nights in Nov 25. Staff provided great service on time, especially Mr Raj Guleria, who was kind and helped arrange trips for our family.
