We booked a cottage for just one night and had a superb stay. I wish we'd known sooner, because we would have booked a couple of nights. I can't speak for the regular rooms, but the cottage was a great experience.

The location is right in the heart of the city, and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was lit. My stay exceeded expectations. I'd recommend it and come back. Five stars isn't enough, but it's a start.

Set beside the river in Chari, Hotel Himalayan Odyssey offers a quiet stay in an elegantly designed luxury cottage. The river is only steps away, while Dharamshala is a short drive away, so it's well placed for both relaxing and exploring. Hiking trails start nearby, and regional attractions are easy to reach.

The host was good, and there is parking at this on-road property with a river nearby. But the stay was bad overall: the rooms weren't clean, the bathroom was broken, and there was no electric gyser, only a solar gyser.

The river view from the cottage is really good, and the place is peaceful, away from city traffic and honking. There's room outdoors for family to play or have a party, and there are no restrictions on drinks or breakfast timing. Those were the good parts. There were plenty of problems too. The property wasn't well maintained, the pool wasn't operating, and the cottage bathroom smelled bad. Basic things like soap and towels were missing, and the blankets and bedsheets hadn't been washed. The receptionist was humble but seemed drunk at check-in. I wasn't expecting five-star food, but even the basic taste was lacking. Overall, 2.5.
